Symptoms of a bad detergent cup latch include:

  • The cup popping open unexpectedly during a wash
  • Difficulty fully closing and hearing the "click" of the latch
  • Detergent leakage resulting in reduced cleaning

This genuine OEM Bosch part is also compatible with Thermador, Gaggenau and select Kenmore models.

For Bosch Detergent Cup Latch W Spring (Part Number: OEM8407005)

Cbh for Model Number SHU4016UC/U06

I too have a Detergent Dispenser door that will not stay latched closed. I have removed the dispensers sliding cover and spring with no problem. Can not see anything obviously wrong with the cover, the spring or the latch. However, since the door will not stay closed I guess the latch is worn or the door is warped. If I replace the latch, how do I get the old one out and put the new one in? Can the job be done without taking the dishwasher door apart? Thank you.

Hello CBH, Since the soap dispenser is not serviceable, meaning individual parts are not available, the entire dispenser has to be changed out. The outer door panel must be removed to do this so before you start, discontinue power to the unit. When you remove the door panel, you will raise the curtain to see six miniature screws. I have seen two variations. Hex headed, about 3/16 inch, and miniature torx. Which ever it is, I found the tiny tools at a local electronics store. Be sure to reinstall the little black curtain as if there is a leak, it protects you from the shock and fire hazards that are possible when electricity and water combine.
