Questions & Answers

For Bosch Refrigerator Temperature Sensor (Part Number: OEM13192524)

1 Answer

Dave,

With having an ice block on the evaporator, if there is no other frost on the evaporator then this will be a sealed system issue and will need to have a service provider to correct the issue.

The freezer seems to be working fine, but the refrigerator is warm in the 50's F, thereby causing some food to spoil. This fridge has separate evaporators in the freezer and refrigerator compartments. Is it caused by a temperature sensor going bad in the refrigerator side, or something wrong with the defrost process, or faulty control board? This problem happened gradually over a few weeks I think. I opened the cover on the refrigerator side. The evaporator fins forms a thin frost after a cold start after about 15 mins. But the frost quickly disappeared soon after and turned into water. When frosted, the evaporator tubes temperature dropped below 30's F. As soon as the frost disappeared, the temperature climbed up to 50's F (on both the evaporator tubes and defrost heater tube). This brief frosting and longer defrosting process seems to repeat itself. I did not notice that the defroster tube was hotter than the evaporator tubes or it warmed up first. Granted that the defrost tubes fit snuggly on the outside fins of the evaporator.

Jerry,

Test the defrost thermistor [00612240] for a resistance of 5K ohms at room temp of 77 degrees. If the resistance is off by more than 10% then the thermistor is faulty and would need to be replaced. If the thermistor is good then it sounds like the control board is sending the refrigerator section into defrost too often and the control board would need to be replaced.

Rich for Model Number Bosch side by side refrigerator Model: b22cs50sns

I came home to my alarm for the freezer not working and cool not cold and took the power cord off for over 6 minutes to reset the freezer. I then checked the codes and no error codes came up. The freezer started working again due to the reset. However, every week or so it alarms again and the freezer is cool instead of cold with melting ice cream etc... Still no codes when I check after each alarm. Do you know what could cause this problem and what part should fix the issue?

1 Answer

Rich, The information would indicate a defrost problem or possibly a control board issue. Give it a couple of days, or until the temperature starts to increase, remove the articles, and a shelf or two and check the rear wall of the freezer(evaporator cover) for frost or ice build-up on the back wall. If there's an issue, then remove the evaporator cover and test the defrost heater circuit and the temperature sensor and wiring. Test for the voltage from the control board to the heater circuit, if all checks OK.
