Alan June 20, 2020 for Model Number 253.28462801 I looked at the issue that someone else posted on the same Kenmore/Frigidare Freezer 253.28462801. The control panel displays various combinations of lights, ajar, alarm, power outage and it cannot be overridden. This has happened to me twice recently - 1) after being unplugged to allow defrosting and then re-plugged. 2) after a brief power outrage where power was restored without manual intervention. In both instances, only after leaving the power cord off for about a minute and then plugging it back in did the freezer start up and act normally. I believe this is a control panel issue. Also, to get to this control panel, it appears that I just pry it off using a putty knife (preferably plastic)? I was initially thinking that I needed to get to it from the inside door, but after reviewing some videos of similar freezers and looking at a question and answer on your web page I believe it is very simple. Please confirm both parts of my inquiry – 1) Do you think that the issue is this part - 297366200 2) And am I correct on how to replace it? Thanks much.
1 Answer Alan, With how the unit is acting, the control board would be the most likely cause of the issue. The control is just pried off from the front and would be part number 297366200. Read More...
William September 11, 2018 Kenmore Freezer 25328452801 Parts The control panel displays various combinations of lights, ajar, alarm, power outage. I replaced the door switch in hopes that it was the door ajar. No go. I plugged it back in a number of times and still got all the different lights, no change pressing alarm reset or any button. Finally, after plugging in and one cycle of flashing and clicking, the compressor started even though the lights were still flashing. Am hour latter display now show 10 and all is well. I am afraid to open it as that is what has seemed to trigger the failure. Do you think it is the control panel? Thanks much.
1 Answer William, I would have to say it does sound like a control issue. If this happens again part # 297366200 is your control. Read More...
Allan November 02, 2017 for Model Number 253.28462801 my freezer only gets down to 34 degrees and some of the functions on the panel do not work. it was fine until power outage. will a new control panel fix this problem?
1 Answer Allan, You want to do the basic checks first, make sure the door closes and seals, the interior light goes out when the door is closed, and there's no loose connections in the wire harness at the bottom of the door, behind the kickplate grille. Then replace the control 297366200 / 297242000 . Read More...
Bonnie September 23, 2017 for Model Number 253 28452803 for Kenmore Upright Freezer After power going out from Hurricane Irma and then coming back on, control panel was blinking and would not start back up freezer or even light on inside of freezer. The panel feels warm to the touch and I am wondering if I buy a new control panel if this will fix my freezer as it was freezing fine before we lost power. Pleas let me know as soon as possible. Thank you, Bonnie
