S3 September 01, 2013 for Model Number Kenmore Elite 79097473804 I recently bought and exchanged the control board for my electric range after my oven stopped working. I have now changed it twice for the same problem. Bought the part on ebay 1st time and it was a used part. I thought that might have been the reason it went bad again. I notice when I change it this time that the plastic plug on the bottom RH connection was melted. After prying it off, the spade plug on the conductor is black, but still good (P3 connection point on the L2 IN). Is there a possible problem going on causing this before I plug the range back in and possibly melting the new one also?
1 Answer S3, You will want to check for a short to ground on the L2 circuit which will require testing the bake and broil element to chassis ground. You will also want to inspect the wiring. This issue is caused by too high of a current draw and if the wiring and elements are good then you would want to have your home supply tested. Read More...
1 Answer Hello Jeanie, To replace controller you will remove power from unit. Take rear cover from the control panel and remove the screws holding in the controller. Install new and reinstall panel and power. Read More...
