The Heating Element is an OEM part for Frigidaire ovens and ranges. It is responsible for providing the heat necessary for baking or broiling. The element converts electrical energy into heat through resistance; this heat is then distributed throughout the oven cavity to cook or bake food evenly.

Common causes of a bad Heating Element can include visible signs of damage like blistering, bulging, or breakage. A burnout may occur when the element overheats and fails, leading to no heat production. Additionally, electrical issues like a blown fuse or faulty wiring can prevent the element from receiving power.

Symptoms of a bad Heating Element include:

  • The oven does not heat up
  • Uneven cooking or baking
  • Longer cooking times than usual
  • The element not glowing when the oven is turned on

This OEM Frigidaire part can also be used on Electrolux, Frigidaire, Gibson, Kelvinator, Westinghouse, and Sears/Kenmore.

For Frigidaire Heating Element (Part Number: OEM16770402)

William for Model Number Kenmore C970-635432

Hello, I can't find much on the internet with my specific Kenmore oven model number c970-635432. I think the baking element needs to be replaced, because the oven stopped heating, but the broil and stovetop elements still work. I have no idea how to access the bake element, it's "hidden" and there's no screws inside the oven so no plate to remove to access it. So I guess my questions are: 1- which baking element model would I need? 2- how to access the hidden element to replace it?

William, Unfortunately, we do not show any parts for this unit. In most cases, the element can be accessed from the back of the unit which is covered by a cover plate.

Hello Tom, check if the element is getting 240vac in operation, if not then likely the element when it failed damaged the circuit/relay in the control board 316272204 which is no longer available.

Ron, Thanks for the question!!! Your best option to find the failure is to set the oven to bake and test the voltage at the bake element terminals. If you have 240vac then the element would be bad 318255006. Any other readings most likely point to the control board 5304461061. The control is NLA but there are companies on the internet that rebuild control boards, companies such as CoreCentrics. A google search will help locate those companies.

Melva, with the power cord unplugged, the oven sensor 316217002 would need to be tested for resistance and it should measure around 1100O at room temperature. The bake 318255401 and broil 318255605 elements would need to be tested for resistance as well. The bake element should measure 17O and the broil element should measure 21O. If these items test good, then the failure would likely be in the main control 316418522.
