Questions & Answers

For Frigidaire Oven Bake Element (Part Number: OEM16770402)

1 Answer

Hello Charles, thank you for contacting APP, You would need to unplug the unit, access the terminals of the heating element in question, disconnect one of the leads from the element, plug the unit in, and start the desired cycle, then check from the disconnected wire to the wire still connected to the element for AC Voltage. If you are unfamiliar with the usage of a multimeter or voltmeter, or are uncomfortable around live voltage, I would not suggest performing this test as there is live voltage present. We do have a few videos on using a multimeter to test for voltage or continuity on our YouTube channel, and you should be able to find more specific information on your particular meter by searching for a user manual with the meter's model number on the internet.

William for Model Number Kenmore C970-635432

Hello, I can't find much on the internet with my specific Kenmore oven model number c970-635432. I think the baking element needs to be replaced, because the oven stopped heating, but the broil and stovetop elements still work. I have no idea how to access the bake element, it's "hidden" and there's no screws inside the oven so no plate to remove to access it. So I guess my questions are: 1- which baking element model would I need? 2- how to access the hidden element to replace it?

William, Unfortunately, we do not show any parts for this unit. In most cases, the element can be accessed from the back of the unit which is covered by a cover plate.

Hello Tom, check if the element is getting 240vac in operation, if not then likely the element when it failed damaged the circuit/relay in the control board 316272204 which is no longer available.

Ron, Thanks for the question!!! Your best option to find the failure is to set the oven to bake and test the voltage at the bake element terminals. If you have 240vac then the element would be bad 318255006. Any other readings most likely point to the control board 5304461061. The control is NLA but there are companies on the internet that rebuild control boards, companies such as CoreCentrics. A google search will help locate those companies.
