Kris April 19, 2014 for Model Number FRS6HR5JW4 I am replacing the water filter, but when I opened the housing, the old filter was just sitting free inside the housing with no top. The top blue piece of the old filter is stuck inside where i would like to put the new filter. Any recommendations for how to remove the top of the old filter which is stuck inside the fridge? We thought this was due to the cracked water filter housing which was causing water to leak into the refrigerator; however, after replacing the filter housing it is still not working. 1 Answer Hello D. Make sure the filter is good and the water tank is not frozen. If all is good, then you may need to replace the water valve on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. 1 Answer William, If you are getting no water to the door but you are getting water to the icemaker then you will want to check to make sure that the water line in the door is not frozen. You can do this by disconnecting the tube at the bottom of the door and see if water comes out when you push the water dispenser lever. If no water then check to make sure that the lever is making contact with the switch and is not broken. If this checks ok and there is no water then the water valve would be the cause for failure.
