For Frigidaire Dryer Flame Sensor (Part Number: OEM6427917)

Sean for Model Number kenmore model 417 921 42100

The ignitor didn't used to glow. I replaced it, even though the previous one does pass the continuity test. So I have a new ignitor. When I turn on the dryer, the ignitor comes on red hot, glows for about 15 seconds then goes out. There is another post that says "make sure the ignitor is in the flame". I'm not sure what this means, as I do not get any flame. It also says, the flame sensor may not be opening and will need to be replaced. How would I know/test that? Thanks, Sean

Hello Andy! It sounds like the secondary coil has failed and will need to be replaced. It is suggested to replace both coils at the same time. The coil kit for your unit is part number 5303931775. Thanks!

Hello Anthony. If the igniter is weak, it will cause the dryer to do this. The igniter should get red hot, and not a dull orange color. If everything else is checking good, I would try replacing the igniter. Hope this helps.

Hello Anthony. The flame sensor should open when the dryer lites. If it is staying closed, you will need to replace it. Hope this helps.

Hello Wyane. You will need to check and see if the igniter 5303937186 is getting hot enough to release the gas and lite it. If you have a weak igniter, the dryer will not lite. If it is good, you will need to check the thermal fuses and flame sensor. They should read closed for continuity. Hope this helps.

Hello. You can test this with a multi-meter. It should read closed or 0 for continuity. Hope this helps.
