Sean June 29, 2011 for Model Number kenmore model 417 921 42100 The ignitor didn't used to glow. I replaced it, even though the previous one does pass the continuity test. So I have a new ignitor. When I turn on the dryer, the ignitor comes on red hot, glows for about 15 seconds then goes out. There is another post that says "make sure the ignitor is in the flame". I'm not sure what this means, as I do not get any flame. It also says, the flame sensor may not be opening and will need to be replaced. How would I know/test that? Thanks, Sean
1 Answer Hello Sean. You can test the flame sensor 5303281135 for continuity. It should read closed. If it is open, you will need to replace the flame sensor. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps.http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Andy May 27, 2011 for Model Number Glgq642as1 I have replaced the thermo disc and igniter, dryer will light and run hot for about 1 min then goes cold. What should I try next? Thanks.
1 Answer Hello Andy! It sounds like the secondary coil has failed and will need to be replaced. It is suggested to replace both coils at the same time. The coil kit for your unit is part number 5303931775. Thanks! Read More...
Anthony May 01, 2011 for Model Number GSGR42DSO I have replaced the coils, and flame sensor. What is the next thing to replace. The igniter get hot and all the thermal fuses test ok. the unit still makes a lot of noise while it should lite.
1 Answer Hello Anthony. If the igniter is weak, it will cause the dryer to do this. The igniter should get red hot, and not a dull orange color. If everything else is checking good, I would try replacing the igniter. Hope this helps. Read More...
Anthony April 26, 2011 for Model Number GSGR42DSO I really hate the shotgun method, but it still does not work. The flame sensor has infinite continuity. Do you still think it needs to be replaced?
1 Answer Hello Anthony. The flame sensor should open when the dryer lites. If it is staying closed, you will need to replace it. Hope this helps. Read More...
Anthony April 21, 2011 for Model Number GSGR642DSO The igniter lights but goes out in about 15 seconds. The gas valve makes a lot of noise. I did replace the coils with two new ones.
1 Answer Hello Anthony. Make sure the igniter is in the flame. If so, the flame sensor may not be opening, and will need to be replaced. Hope this helps. Read More...
David April 10, 2011 for Model Number fdgb34rgs1 The burner ignites but then will go out, but the burner assembly makes a noise that sounds like a bad bearing? It will heat up for about 5 minutes.I have already replaced thermal fuse At the top back of the drum w/o any success. I read 0 continuity @ the sensor next to igniter, and the thermo switch (?) on front of air box (the one w/ 4 posts) reads 0 end to end but has some continuity between posts on end and the posts on top and bottom.
1 Answer Hello David. You will need to change the coils 5303931775 if the dryer lites and then goes out. Hope this helps. Read More...
1 Answer Hello Wyane. You will need to check and see if the igniter 5303937186 is getting hot enough to release the gas and lite it. If you have a weak igniter, the dryer will not lite. If it is good, you will need to check the thermal fuses and flame sensor. They should read closed for continuity. Hope this helps. Read More...
1 Answer Hello. You can test this with a multi-meter. It should read closed or 0 for continuity. Hope this helps. Read More...
