Lloyd March 24, 2012 for Model Number gfc325f The disposal is locked up. Can I reset it? Is there a way to unlock it like other disposals? The power is on. I can hear a humming sound when I flip the switch.
1 Answer Hello Lloyd, Disposals usually have a hex wrench fitting in the bottom of the motor shaft to turn the motor manually in case of an item dropping into the disposal and getting hung up in the blades. The fitting is in the middle from the bottom of the unit. There should also be a circuit breaker reset button on the unit also usually on the bottom. (Do not try to turn the disposal on with a wrench in the fitting. This could put your wrench in your leg or worse!). If it won't free up with the wrench, these units are not made to be serviceable.
