This microswitch senses the microwave door position and controls the safety interlock circuits. Replacing a worn switch restores proper start/stop behavior so the oven only runs when the door is fully closed.

  • Detects door open/closed status to enable or disable cooking
  • Part of the safety interlock system that stops operation if the door opens mid-cycle
  • Replace if the switch fails a continuity check or shows heat or terminal damage
What's included: 1 microswitch
  • Disconnect power before service; microwave capacitors can retain a dangerous charge
  • Note wire positions and move them to the same terminals on the new switch
  • Ensure the door latch cleanly actuates the switch; test operation before reassembly

For Ge Microwave Door Switch (Microswitch) (Part Number: OEM17372553)

Potential Buyer, This will really depend on the switch. Some switches will be normally open which means that when the button is pushed there will be no continuity and there will be continuity when the button is pressed. Some are normally closed which would be the opposite of Normally open. The switches that you have, appear to be normally open switches and would have continuity when the button is pushed.
