Judith, With the dryer not shutting off this issue will most likely be caused by a faulty main control board.

Penny, You most likely have a "stuck" motor relay on the main control board. The internal contacts are stuck together and supplying constant power to the motor, making the motor run, whenever power is applied to the dryer.

Hello Keith. If everything checks out good, then the only thing left is the board. It sounds like your on the correct path.

Tracy for Model Number LG DLE3050W

My LG DLE3050W dryer works but won't stop spinning after it's done. The only way to make it stop is to open the door and/or unplug it. The display will count all the way down and then turn off and the heat will stop, but the drum will continue to spin. The moment I close the door it will start to spin again, and if I push the power button the display will turn on and I can select a program. If I press the start button it will begin to heat and work like normal until it's done and the display turns off yet the drum is still spinning.

Tracy, With the unit not stopping when it reaches off, then the cause would be a stuck relay on the control board which is part number CSP30104801.

John B for Model Number DLE0442W

I have an electric dryer (LG model DLE0442W), about 5 or 6 years old, that will occasionally continue to run, even after the power switch is turned off and all panel lights go out. It will stop when the door is opened. Unplugged the unit for a couple hours, and it starts right back up again when you plug it back in, even with the panel lights still off. This happened about 3 or 4 months ago for the first time, and then again today. So, both times, I plugged it back in again, and, while it was running, went through the motions to start a load of clothes - hit the power button (which turned on the panel lights), then selected the 'Normal' cycle, and then hit the button to start drying. After about a minute, I hit the cycle button again to pause the dryer, and it worked from then on out, as if somehow going through the motions reset the "computer" or something. Power button now turns the unit off, too. And the dryer heat works as well. Trying to determine if the problem is the main PCB? I'm sure it will happen again.

John, While it is possible to have the relay sticking on the control board, you will also want to check the motor to make sure that there is not heavy lint build up around it. If there is then the centrifugal switch could be sticking on the motor. If heavy lint build up then clean it out and if the issue happens again then the control board would be the issue.
