Hello Ken, You will need to open the unit and use a multi-meter to determine where the shorted component is by using the wiring diagram to trace the wiring harness. This can be done by checking for a short from the hot lead on the plug to the neutral or ground prong. Unplugging each component in the unit, one at a time will show if that is the faulty component or not.

Sami, If the unit was humming like a motor running, you will want to check to see if the tub turns freely by hand. If it does then the issue would most likely be a motor issue.

Howie, You will want to power the unit down, gain access to the condenser fan, power the unit back on and test power to the condenser fan. If there is power to it then the fan is defective and would need to be replaced. If there is no power then the control board would need replaced.

Beau, With the unit not powering on the first thing that you will want to check the filter assembly 6201EC1006T to makes sure that there is power into the assembly and power out of the assembly to the control board. If there is no power out then replace the filter assembly. If there is power in and out and power to the board but the unit will not power on then most likely is a user interface issue with having a new board in it.

Jgroneck for Model Number 796.40272900

I have a 4 year old Kenmore washer model 796.40272900 . The washer loses power after a load is completed. If I unplug the washer for 15-20 seconds the power comes back immediatley when plugged back into the wall outlet. All controls/cycles appear to function properly and all external / internal connections seem intact. The GFCI and circuit breaker are functioning normally. I would greatly appreciate some advice on the likely fix / replacement part for this problem.
