KTWC, if you remove the back cover panel assembly, the thermistor should be located inside of the panel assembly. You will want to replace it by cutting the old thermistor out with at least 2 inches of wire left on the old connection, and use a splice kit or small wire nuts to secure the new thermistor to the old connection. You will also want to use a silicone to seal the splice or wire nut to prevent moisture from corroding the connection.

KT, the part [6500JB2002P] is specific to the freezer section while [6500JB2001L] is for the freezer section.

KT, you may want to check to ensure that the door switches are operating properly. Another possibility is that there may not be a proper communication between the control boards.

Unfortunately there would not be a way to disable the bell on the unit.

Typically on a sensor the Resistance would be 10K ohms at room temperatur.

This would be a refrigerator compartment thermistor and would have a resistance reading of 5K ohms at room temp of 77 degrees.

When you access the thermistor on the unit you will just cut the old one out and splice it back together.

The sensor is located at the top of the door under the door hinge and is just a plug in sensor.
