Erin February 01, 2021 for Model Number LFX25974st I have an LG refrigerator. Apparently the compressor has gone out. There is ONE technician in my area who will work on this fridge. There is an update required on the control board. The tech does not have the update tool and said that he has never updated one. He always replaces with a new control board. My compressor is under warranty, but LG will ONLY replace the compressor. They refuse to send a control board unless i purchase it. I guess my question is, do i need to purchase a control board? Or will the update be easy enough for him to do? Either way, I'm out an extra $100-$200 for the update. I can purchase a control board from elsewhere, but how would i know if it's been updated? PLEASE HELP ME! I appreciate it!
1 Answer Hello Erin, if the compressor is to be replaced then either the original control board has to be updated with the manufacturer's Rewriter tool, or the control board is replaced, if the control board is new from the manufacturer then it will already have the updated software. Pete August 29, 2020 for Model Number LMXS30776D/00 Does the CJT30000002 software rewriter already have the software on it? I've read it needs to be downloaded from LG, but only to authorized LG service centers. I need to update software for an FLS075LANA compressor. Does this unit come with the software update for that compressor?

David July 11, 2020 for Model Number LFX33975ST/01 Hi, this is my second compressor failure with this refrigerator since purchasing it in 2013. I have got the fridge checked by the Service Technician and he has indicated that many of the LG units experience the same problem whereby the compressors fail after about 3 years. I have a surge protector onto which the fridge is plugged in , yet the compressor fails. Does LG offer any recourse to consumers as a result of this? Is there an updated replacement compressor for my unit, and if so will I require an updated electronic control board?

Sergio June 16, 2020 for Model Number Kenmore elite refrigerator 79572183314 Hi, I ordered a compressor TCA38151706, and the SW rewriter assembly that according to your site It was CTJ30000002. This software doesn’t match my actual refrigerator information. Also, I noticed later that there is a link to check compatibility between the software and refrigerator model, I entered my model number and says they are not compatible. 1. How do I know the correct part number for the SW rewriter assembly? 2. I want to return the wrong one, but it asks for a serial number and the SW rewriter doesn’t have a serial number Thanks
1 Answer Sergio, the software rewriter CJT30000002 would be used with your model and would be connected into the main control at the connection CON202. The checksum of the original compressor software would need to be changed based on what the original was and this would be done during the automatic update (jig tabs 1 and 4 in the down position, 2 and 3 in the up position). Thomas April 24, 2020 for Model Number 795-73139-410 HI- Just had a repaiman out to look at our refrigerator which is no longer cooling/freezing. He said it was the compressor and gave me a part # (TCA 38091801) for our Kenmore Elite. We purchased an extended warranty so all work is covered thorugh this repair servcie. However, he said it could take up to a week for them to get the part.... and we have no refrigerator :-(. My questions... 1. In looking up the part, your site notes that an additional part - software rewrite kit is required (CJT0000002). What is it for, and do I need it if we are having a repair shop do the work? 2. For th $10 delivery charge, will I really get this netxt day, or is it likley to be delayed up tp a week? Thanks very much, Tom
1 Answer Thomas, This is a requirement of the manufacturer that the software on the board be rewritten when a compressor is replaced. Make sure your technician is certified for sealed system work and has the tool to rewrite the software before changing out the compressor, this could damage the new compressor if not done.
