For Mcf Capacitor (Mccf5wbx) (Part Number: OEM13695798)

John for Model Number Frigidaire Window AC Model FAA087S7A 11

I believe electrolytic cap is bad as it is roughly 14 years old. Exterior looks perfectly OK ( no bulging or leaking ) Looks like new. Cap information reads as follows: CBB65A-1 40+15 uf +/-5% 370Vac 50/60HZ 40/70/21 C. PI CQC02002001190 E241095 10,000 AFC Polybutene oil R5004960490 EN60252-1 Other information is smudged Date code is 11/07/2007 Fan measures 15.25uf within tolerance (OK) Herm or Compressor does not measure with meter at 200uf Usually, run AC 6 months out of the year without side temps exceeding 100 deg most times. Unit is not exposed to sunlight. As a best-case scenario let's say I run the unit 12 hrs per day at 6 months. 12x 180 =2160 hrs at 77 deg. If capacitor life is 20000 it should last 9.25 years, not including outside temp of 100+ for roughly 14 years. Anyway I can't find a cap that has 40+15 uf. 15uf would be for the fan and relate to the RC time constant. What I have seen is 40 +5fu at 370VAC. Do you have a replacement cap for my window AC model. If not what do you suggest?

John, unfortunately, the manufacturer does not list the capacitor as a replaceable part for the model provided. As this is the case, we would not be able to guarantee that the capacitor would have the correct terminals or mounting type.

Hello Brian, The capacitor you were viewing will not be a good substitute since it is a 50µf and the one originally on the compressor RF-1400-11 is a 10µf. I'm sorry but the part you need has been discontinued by the manufacturer and no satisfactory substitution has been provided. You would have to match the old capacitors' specifications printed on the side of the old capacitor exactly. It looks like a 10µf with a 5% tolerance above or below at 50/60Hz and 250V.

Hello Miles, While it would be good to have the model number to verify this is the correct part number, if it is indeed the correct one, the images I have found had the threaded shaft on one end. If it has not got it, it can still work since it requires no ground connect.

Hello Rick, You will need to troubleshoot the unit with the wiring diagram on the unit. This can be anything from a poor connection to a bad motor winding. The wall outlet or breaker in the breaker box can also cause these symptoms. For more specific diagnosis, we would have to have the complete model number from the units' I.D. tag so we could pull the wiring diagram. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Israel, The condenser getting hot would not be caused by a capacitor that is 2 microfarons below the original. The condenser for this unit is going to get hot due to the refrigerant flow and releasing the heat into the atmosphere as there is not a cooling fan on the unit.
