Louis for Model Number SMH2117S/XAC

I noticed that the microwave display for the time has dimmed significantly, to the point where it is very difficult to read. There appear to be 2 different PCB assemblies which could be causing this problem, however, I'm not sure which one to replace. One has the display, PN# DE92-02135B and the other circuit board seems to have the capacitors that could control the voltage to the display PN# DE92-02136B. Any ideas? The microwave model # is SMH2117S/XAC Samsung.

Louis, you will want to test the voltage going to the display board at CN01 pin 1. It should be receiving 120VAC. If the control is receiving proper voltage, then the issue would be with the display assembly [DE92-02135B].

Mark, You will want to check the wiring harness that goes from the door to the unit to make sure that there is no loose connections. If this checks ok then it will most likely be the control board DE92-02135A.

Hello JC. If the button is bad, then the membrane DE34-00333A is bad on the unit. This part has been permanently discontinued by the manufacturer and we don't know of any source or replacement for the part. If it is not the membrane that is bad, then the board DE92-02136A will need to be replaced on the unit.

Danny, The transformer humming while the unit is not running would indicate that there is power getting to the transformer and would most likely be the control board causing this issue.

Walt, To replaced the control board assembly DE92-02136A, you will need to remove the air vent at the top of the unit. Once you have the air grill off, you would then remove one screw from the control panel. Once the control panel is removed you will be able to remove the control board.
