Julie January 09, 2020 for Model Number rf217acbp We were able to open the mechanism cover but there is only 1 retainer in our model and the hinge pin goes into the door itself toward the inside of the handle on both sides (we ony see the the outer end of each pin) so we are not able to remove the hinge assembly. Any advice would be helpful!
1 Answer Julie, Once you remove the retainer you should be able to slide the hinge pin over and pull it out. You may need to use a pair of needle-nose pliers to do this. Read More...
Kori February 12, 2019 for Model Number RF261BEAESP/AA-0001 I am trying to replace the spring on the handle door but the top of the freezer door is solid and there is no place where to lift as is shown in the video. How do I remove the whole part to replace the spring?
1 Answer Kori, The first thing would be to remove the door handle by loosening the set screws underneath it. Once the handle is removed then remove the bolt the handle was on. From this point it looks like the trim piece around where the handle was attached will need to be popped free. Once it is removed you should be able to pull out on the support and pull it out to remove and replace the spring. Read More...
Rachel February 10, 2019 for Model Number RF323TEDBSR/AA-0001 My fridge does not have the two easy to remove covers above each handle as shown in your video. The door is solid across the top. I am not trying to remove the door but just get access to the handle mechanics.
1 Answer Rachel, Unfortunately "I am not trying to remove the door but just get access to the handle mechanics." isn't possible on your refrigerator. The "mechanics" of the door system are sealed inside the door, and not accessible, you would need to replace the DA82-01395D / DA82-01395D A/s Assy-Packing Door Fr. which is no longer available from the manufacturer. Susan September 21, 2018 for Model Number RF260BEAESR/AA The top of the freezer door is solid, not showing any place to lift to get to the door assembly. Does the entire piece just lift off?
1 Answer Susan, If you are trying to remove the freezer door you would pull the drawer out and on the rail there will be a tab on either side that you would need to push in on toward the back in order to slide the complete drawer and rails out. Read More...
