Bryan September 10, 2022 for Model Number 665.13893k801 The dishwasher has started malfunctioning. Noticed when the Control panel went dead and water remained in the tub. Tested the thermal fuse, needed replacing. This seemed to fix the dead control panel. The dishwasher started but stopped mid-cycle during normal wash, heated dry, and sanitize mode, water remained in the tub. The start/ resume light would flash. I can restart the sequence but get the same result. Cancel drains tub as expected. Replaced the high temp limit switch/fuse on the bottom of the tub, and the same result. I tested the heating element, seems to be in the normal range. The door lock seems to be working correctly, but have not tested resistance. Did a diagnostic test, Seemed to work very close to what the schematic said it should do…. The diagnostic test shows turbidity sensor should be replaced. The control panel was replaced 1.5 hrs ago and has worked fine until now. Quick and light wash cycles seem to work fine. Normal and pots pans cycles malfunction, yet it seems to run normally for the first 45 min or an hour, then malfunction occurs and the control panel goes dead. Doesn’t seem to be blowing the thermal fuse though, If I remove power for 5 min, the control board flashes start/resume with normal wash light. At this point, I press cancel to drain the water. Motors and pumps seem to be working. When the dishwasher stops, I open the door and a significant amount of steam comes out. Water in the bottom of the tub is approx 135-140 degrees. Not noticing any steam coming out the door vent at any time…. Read somewhere if the vent fan doesn’t work, it will shut down mid-cycle or during the drying cycle and shut down the control panel. Could this be my problem causing an overheat situation? Suggestions???
1 Answer It is possible if the fan is not working to cause overheating. Did you replace the turbidity sensor? That is what failed diagnostics and would be the first part I would replace at this point. Read More...
Pat September 03, 2021 for Model Number 665.13743K603 Hi! My dishwasher keeps blowing the thermal fuse mid cycle. When I open up the control panel, it seems like it’s really hot as evidenced by the melted electrical tape wrapped around the wires and the thermal fuse is really hot as well. As soon as it blows, I replace the thermal fuse and the dishwasher starts working again. I do this to drain the water at the bottom of the dishwasher. I have been rotating about 3 thermal fuses in and out every time I run the dishwasher. The thermal fuse does not blow if I run a “fast cycle”. The vent assembly is almost $80 so I don’t want to order the part if that’s not what is wrong. What would you suggest? Thank you so much in advance.
1 Answer Pat,Based on the information provided I would suggest checking the heater circuit with a multimeter. This is the circuit the hi-limit is in. Also, make sure to follow all the instructions and use all the parts and wire in the kit if there are more than just the stat. Read More...
Pascal February 10, 2020 for Model Number mdb7609aww2 hello! I replaced the thermal fuse on my dishwasher maytag mdb7609aww2 and it burned again after only a few washes. I tested the vent wax motor resistance and the result is 1395 ohms. is the vent wax motor defective? Thanks in advance Pascal
1 Answer Hello Pascal, the thermal fuse will only open if there is excessive heat in that area. If the fuse opens the entire fuse kit needs to be replaced not just the fuse, otherwise it will have a false trip. What to look for is on the control board,is there signs of heating on any component also where the main wire harness connects to the board. The wax motor ohm value is in range. Read More...
David January 16, 2019 for Model Number Maytag MDBH949AWW0 I think I have an overheat condition. At random washer cycles, the washer will stop and the start light will be flashing. Pressing the start touch button restarts the washer. This usually happens anywhere from 2 to 10 times to complete the washer cycle. I have replaced the non-resettable switch with very little change in symptoms. I don't know if the vent is operating correctly. If it's not opening, an overheat condition could occur. Thus, my question: How can I verify the operation of the vent wax motor?
1 Answer David,You can test from connector P10 pin 1 and pin 3 and test for 600 to 800 ohms to test the vent actuator. Test this from the control board. Read More...
Carroll M. May 06, 2016 for Model Number MDB7749AWM1 How do you remove the vent assembly from the door?
1 Answer Carroll, First thing, remove power to the dishwasher, Remove 4 screws (long) across top of door 10 screws (short) on the sides, Remove the outer door panel, Insert a screwdriver into the slot and tap CCW to loosen, Rotate the vent deflector counter-clockwise and lift off, Remove and inspect vent gasket and remove the vent assembly. (The deflector may be difficult to turn, Inspect the vent gasket). Reverse the procedure and check the dishwasher for operation. Read More...
Richard K. March 02, 2014 for Model Number KUDL03ITSS3 Dishwasher Hello, Water leaking from left bottom side of door. I can feel that the insulation is getting soaked behind the door. Replaced door seal and still leaks. Removed door panel and ran rinse to observe. Dried soap and active leak seen around vent module, but it looks to me like the leak should drip inside the tub anyway. Should the vent module still be replaced- I don't think you can get a separate gasket? Observed alot of water coming through the air vent on the bottom, but it looks like this again drains into the tub. Should water come through this and is this normal? My wife sometimes throws extra soap inside the tub after filling the soap dispenser, so possible getting too sudsy and overflowing the tub? You help is appreciated. Thank you
1 Answer Hello Richard, This is normally caused by either a stopped up spray arm, a separated spray arm WPW10082841, or WPW10320510, a missing or broken seal in the water tube WP8579224, or an over-soap situation. Read More...
Dave December 11, 2013 for Model Number MDB7749awm This dishwasher seems to be having overheating problems. I have replaced the control board twice, and the control panel once. The motor on the soap dispenser was melted and I replaced that assembly. After all of that repair work, only two weeks of a few cleaning cycles, it seems I have blown the thermal fuse at the point where it was either heating the water for the steam cleaning cycle or drying. The interior was warm and there was water still in the bottom, but it appears the dishes were clean when it stopped. The thermal fuse is on order but all recommendations say I should find the source of the over heating including if the vent is opening properly before I install the new thermal fuse.. How do I check the vent- how does it work on this model. I'll look around for shorts but can you recommend any other checks I should perform? Thanks
1 Answer Hello Dave. It could blow due to wiring. Try replacing with the new harness sent with the part and see if it works properly. Read More...
