  • Replaces a damaged or worn agitator to maintain wash performance
  • Common symptoms: no or weak agitation, clothes not moving, visible cracks, wobble
What's included: One agitator assembly Install notes:
  • Disconnect power to the washer before servicing
  • Remove the fabric softener dispenser and cap, then the center hold-down bolt
  • Pull the old agitator straight up; align splines and seat the new agitator, then reinstall and tighten the bolt
  • Reinstall cap/dispenser and run a short test cycle

Ed, "do I have to prop upside down to complete" wouldn't work anyway. You may want to try and hold the agitator stationary at the bottom and turn the agitator bolt counterclockwise. If that doesn't work, you can use a "Dremel" or saw and cut the agitator off of the agitator shaft, then check and clean the splines on the metal agitator shaft.

Dennis, A "one piece" agitator WP63235 does not have dogs, If your agitator is Slipping on the agitator shaft, you will need to replace it. The "splines" are stripped and worn allowing the shaft to rotate inside the agitator assembly. You'll need to carefully force the center cap up and off the agitator, with a screwdriver, remove the 7/16" hex bolt, and lift the agitator off the shaft, clean all the debris off the shaft, and reverse the procedure..
