For Whirlpool Washer Drain Pump Assembly (Part Number: OEM18025203)

Steve W for Model Number MAH2400AWW (Maytag)

I bought my machine used, it wouldn't drain, I found quarters in the pump housing. Now, the pump seems weak, slow draining... but I have no basis to compare. I also don't know what the impeller looks like when new, so I can't estimate the wear on the impeller from being run (for who knows how long) with quarters in the pump housing. I also have no way to immobilize the shaft to determine if the impeller is spinning on the shaft. My question is: If I connect the pump through a primed inlet hose to a tub of water, and connect a long outlet hose, and power it up... how much lift should this pump produce? How high will it pump water above the level of the supply tub? (I would like to perform this test before investing $100 on a new pump that I don't yet know that I need)

Steve, If the pump is pumping water out at a steady pace at about 3 1/2 foot to 4 ft standpipe then it would be good. You will want to check the rest of the drain system to make sure that the there is no clogging from the tub to the standpipe.

Hello Beau. Try unplugging the unit for about 15 min and clear the boards, then see if it will unlock for you.

Hi David. They have updated the part internally as the impeller is better formed on the shaft and not to break and spin freely. It is part # WP34001098. Make sure the tub-to-hose pump is clear and there is a anti-siphon cap on the drain standpipe so the inner diaphram opens as the draining effect happens. Make sure that the drain hose is not kinked creating back pressure and the drain standpipe is not further then the use and care manual suggest. Thank You.

Hi Joann. The nd code is no drain. Remove the front lower panel. Clean out the drain pump and incoming hose (sump hose) to the pump. Check to see if the pump impeller is stripped on the shaft and not allowing full speed pumping. Is there too much sudsfrom over soaping? This will cause a air-lock (cavitation) in the pump and it will not drain also. Then this will allow the pressure switch to close and tell the washer to start. The pump is part # WP34001098. Thank you.

Hello Joe. Yes. The vanes on the pump should be symmetrical. Otherwise the pump will not function correctly. The vanes are not sold separate from the pump unit. That part is WP34001098. I hope this info helps.
