Natalie October 28, 2011 for Model Number ED5FVGXSS03 Thank you for the tip. Now can you tell me how to get the spacers and blades off? Ugghhh! They are impossible to remove. I'm trying to avoid purchasing the entire replacement compartment but I may have no choice if I can't get to the baffle.
1 Answer Natalie, Hope this helps a bit more. "A steel arm runs along the ice container in connecting the ice deflector in the crusher housing with the solenoid assembly. When the dispenser is in "cubed" mode, the deflector is retracted and allows the cubes free acces to the dispenser. When the "crushed" mode the deflector moves back into place, forcing the exiting cubes through the drum and into the crusher blades. The crusher housing can be removed by releasing the the retainer ring and washer on the conveyor shaft, where it protrudes through the front of the crusher housing. The crusher assembly can be dismantled by removing the plastic locknut on the end of the conveyor shaft. Note: The plastic locknut has reversed threads, When reassembling the crusher blade assembly it is important to assemble the various spacers, washers, rotary blades and fixxed blades in the proper sequence. When assembled, the rotary blades must rotate evenly through the slots of the stationary blade block. When reassembling the crusher housing, the return spring on the control arm must be positioned so that the control arm holds the ice deflector in towards the crusher blades. The rotary blades have identification letters on them and the letters face away from the conveyor shaft(towards the front of the bin)." Good Luck and Thanks Read More...
Natalie October 26, 2011 for Model Number ED5FVGXSS03 My baffle is cracked and will not allow the dispenser to work. I can order a new baflle but does anyone have instructions to remove the baffle? Is there a special tool needed to remove the E-ring from the end, allowing you to remove it?
1 Answer Natalie, A small flat blade screw driver (1/8 to 1/4 in.wide) works rather well. insert the end in one of the gaps between the shaft and E clip, and twist the screwdriver. The clip will expand as you twist, and come off the shaft, just be carefull and don't loose the E clip. Good Luck and Thanks Read More...
