For Whirlpool Refrigerator Fan Scroll Air Baffle Block (Part Number: OEM11891826)

Rick S for Model Number Kitchenaid KSSO48QTX04

I have evaporator coils freezing up on the right side only which eventually forms a block of ice at the bottom of that same right side not allowing air passage from the freezer to the refrigerator. I have read that the problem may be with the foam air baffles on the top right side of the evaporator causing ice to block the air return. There is a kit that you sell 8201798 / AP3963939 that is supposed to solve this. Have you heard of this right side only freeze up before? What are your thoughts? Rick S

Hello Junior, This would be most likely an air leak or a defrost issue. For a more detailed diagnosis, please post a new question including the model number from the units' I.D. tag. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Hello Jerome. If you have a frost issue inside the unit, you will need to check your door seals and make sure they are good and don't need to be replaced on the unit. Thank you.

Robert, The AP3963939 fan scroll block should be installed between the evaporator fan housing and the right and left side walls. There are several "blocks" located in the evaporator area, they help to direct the air flow to and through the evaporator to promote a more efficient operation of the refrigerator. Yes there are other and better photos of the part and operation, but you forgot to include an e mail address, so we could attach and send the photos.

Markm, Based on the information it sounds like the main control board would be the issue with the unit. The part number for the main control board would be W10823805.
