  • Interprets keypad/touchpad inputs and sends selections to the main control
  • Powers and manages console indicator lights
  • Common failure symptoms include an unresponsive or intermittent control panel, no indicator lights, or a unit that won't start or accept selections
What's included: 1 user interface control board Install notes:
  • Disconnect power at the breaker before service and use ESD precautions; handle the board by its edges
  • Access the UI by removing the console/inner door as directed in the tech sheet
  • Transfer and fully seat the ribbon cable and wire harnesses; reuse mounting hardware as required
  • After reassembly, restore power and run keypad/diagnostic checks per the unit's tech sheet, if applicable

John for Model Number G20EFSB23S8

Hello, I replaced the W10319823 board in my Whirlpool G20EFSB23S8 refrigerator. As soon as it was connected, the left display indicated PE and the right display 000 fixed, not flashing. Thanks to your instructions I turned the refrigerator off and when I turned it on, within 3 seconds I pressed the freezer temperature down button and the codes on the displays started flashing, indicating that I am in programming mode. Now, however, if I press the button temperature up or temperature down on the refrigerator to set the correct code, nothing happens; Does it perhaps depend on the fact that the time within which they had to be pressed has passed, perhaps a few seconds? If so, what can I do to resolve this issue? Thanks for your help.

John, Based on the model number and program instructions the sequence steps should be done within 3 seconds.

Gordon, within 3 seconds of the refrigerator being plugged in, the freezer temperature down key will need to be pressed to confirm the program entry mode. From there, pressing the refrigerator up key will change the first digit, once the first digit is set, press the freezer temperature up to move to the next digit and repeat. Once the correct code is entered, press and hold the freezer temperature down key. If the freezer down key was not pressed within the three seconds, the initial set up would need to be done by pressing and holding the door alarm key, pressing and holding the freezer temperature down key, and immediately releasing the door alarm key followed by a 3-5 second wait. The key presses and releases should all be done rapidly to ensure it falls within the short time allowed for programming entry.

Gordon, when trying to perform the programming input, each button press needs to be done quickly. As soon as the first button is pressed and held, the second one needs to be pressed, and so on. Overall, there should be no more than 1 second in between each action.

Ken for Model Number KBFS20EVMS7

Intermittent issue with refrigerator. Sometimes the lights + display panel + compressor are all out. However, if I put pressure at the top of the refrigerator or near the sides of the control panel, everything comes back on. Sometimes it stays on for a second, sometimes a day, sometimes a couple of weeks. This started after I replaced a light bulb. I've opened up the top panel. All connections look good ... no burn marks or worn insulation. Is it possible that I somehow broke the solder on the inside control board ( KBFS20EVMS7 )? Is there any way to diagnose without replacing it?

1 Answer

Ken, It definitely sounds like something was damaged when you replaced the bulb. You can do voltage tests as the unit is operating normally and recheck those same tests when it stops working.

Hello Doug, The Program Code is located on the Serial Plate on this unit after the word Code. I'm sorry but this code is unique to your model and will have to be retrieved from the units' I.D. tag.
