For Whirlpool Dishwasher Food Chopper Assembly (Part Number: OEM19002429)

Jim for Model Number MDB8959SFZ4

After my daughter put a ton of food in my dishwasher, I cleaned the inside of the dishwasher, including removing the screen and protector assembly and cleaned everything. I wanted to take a look at the chopper, as in the old kitchenaid, that's where a lot of my cleaning issues originated (vegetables with skins would get caught, along with pieces of plastic, toothpicks ect.). The kitchenaid was simple, as the chopper was accessible from the top. However, it looks like the chopper for this maytag requires me to dig deeper. I found a video for replacing the drain pump, but nothing for the chopper (part #W10591562). Can you explain how to get to and check/clean the chopper?

Jim, Unfortunately there is no video for the chopper but you would need to remove the cover and then remove the drain adapter and the outlet cover to access the chopper assembly.

Lynn for Model Number mdb8969 Maytag dishwasher

I am getting food debris deposits in the dishwasher. I have done all the usual things - run a cycle with vinegar or citric acid The last time that didn't work, I called the company that sole it to me - it was ayear old. When he removed the accumulator cover, the filter screen was covered with debris. he removed somethin else and there was a bunch of food accumulated in the bottom. I can't remember how he removed the accumulator cover to get to the screen. Can you help? thank you

1 Answer

Hello Lynn. Remove lower spray arm. 1. Remove the four (4) Torx T-20 screws securing the soil accumulator from the sump base. 2. The soil accumulator assembly will now lift free of the sump base.
