This is a small metal mounting clip used to secure the spark electrode (igniter) in place near a surface burner on a gas range. It holds the igniter at the correct position so the spark can reliably ignite the gas when the burner knob is turned. Replace this clip if the igniter is loose, misaligned, or has fallen out of position, causing unreliable burner ignition.
