Sefefe,
From the description, this could be a start device issue. We will need the model/serial numbers to properly research your issue and give you the correct information and part numbers for the machine you are working on.

Phillip,

Normally the manufacturer has a 1 year warranty on the compressor but if you look at your owners manual it will tell you what the warranty is.

Jack D for Model Number GD5DHAXVQ03

Hi, my Whirlpool Gold (GD5DHAXVQ03) started acting up - compressor comes on and runs for about 10 seconds, then shuts off. Comes back on every 2 minutes and does it again. I ordered and replaced the start relay and capacitor, but that didn't fix it. I suspect the compressor may be bad. It gets really hot after doing the cycling for awhile. It looks like you sell the compressor for my unit (AP4369565), but can these be installed by non-technicians? Thank you.

Hello Jack,
at this point you would need a service technician to check the sealed system, while this may be a faulty compressor it could also be a restricted sealed system tubing problem.

Tony S. for Model Number ed5vhexvb01

My frig & freezer are not getting cold. I cleaned the coils and let it sit over night. It's still doing the same thing. The compressor kicks on for about 20 seconds then turns off. My friend that use to do hvac work said it might have had a coolant leak that took these 2 years to leak down enough to effect it. He showed me a tarnished spot at a coupling on the line. It was the only spot tarnished. He also said he thinks it is going in to heat overload. What all could it be and how can I test what all it could be?

Joseph, I think you're inquiring about the purchase of a compressor ? You may purchse the part, but you will not be able to repair the unit(install the part) unless you are a certified refrigerant and recovery technician, have a license or certificate to purchase the refrigerant, and the tools to recover the refrigerant and perform the soldering and swedging of the tubing. So, you would need a technician to install the part if you purchased it . Thanks and Good Luck.
