Larry October 24, 2012 How difficult is it to replace the Whirlpool controler AP2989599? Is it just as simple as removing the old controller with a one wire plug or is it more involved? Can you provide installation instructions for a replacement unit? Thanks!
1 Answer Hello Larry, This is a simple job if you follow a few simple guidelines. First, unplug the unit to prevent electrical shock or death. Now pull the unit out from the wall to access the rear of the unit. Remove the screws that hold the top cover on the rear of the control panel. Do not remove any wires yet! Remove the screws that hold the clock inside the control panel. Now, with the clock hanging by the wires, remove one wire and connect it to the same connection on the new clock. Remove the next and so on. Once all of the wires have been transferred to the new clock, install the new clock assembly as the old one was in the panel. Re-install the cover panel and re-instate the power to the unit. After testing, you're ready to make dinner. Read More...
