Hello Kathy, The gasket serves two purposes: It keeps spills from getting under the top and it prevents heat transfer that can cause discoloration of the countertop. While it is not necessary for the product to operate properly, it can prevent future damage from heat and spills. You can use WB04K10015 for this if you would like.

Hello! The cooktop for your model is part number WPW10539072. You will need to pull out the slide in range out of the cabinet. Once you have access to the unit, you should be able to see the screws that holds down the cooktop around the perimeter. After you remove the screws you should be able to pull the cooktop glass up. Hope this helps!
