For Whirlpool Washer Bleach Dispenser Cup (Part Number: OEM18049938)

Betty M. for Model Number RTW4640yQ1

I have the Roper washer model that does not have the "yes/no" knob to indicate that softener has/has not been added. Since it clearly states in the manual to be sure not to spray or splatter softener in the tub if adding manually, where do you add the softener in these models? The top of the agitator does not have an opening to add anything. Does this top screw off to add softener or does it have to be added manually (if so...how?) during the final rinse cycle by halting the cycle and unlocking the lid? The manual that comes with the washer makes no mention of this. It only shows the illustration of the control board for washers that do and do not have the softener "Yes/No" knob.

Hello Betty, The owners manual says this: Adding Liquid Fabric Softener Manually to Wash Load During the final rinse, wait until the washer has completed filling, press the START/Pause/Unlock Lid button to pause the washer. Lift the lid and add the measured recommended amount of liquid fabric softener. Do not use more than the recommended amount. Close the lid and press the START/Pause/Unlock Lid button again to start the washer. The procedure recommended is to dilute the softener with 50% hot water to dissolve the softener. You then pour the softener into the washtub into the water, trying to avoid pouring it directly on the clothing.
