Symptoms of a bad detergent drawer include:

  • Detergent not dispensing properly
  • Residue left in the drawer after the cycle
  • Difficulty sliding the drawer in or out
  • Leaks or spills from the drawer area

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Detergent Drawer (Part Number: OEM18035163)

Steve, There are a couple of possibilities, you may want recheck the dispenser. At the end of the cycle, open the drawer and check the dispenser. If there is water and softener remaining , this is an indication of a weak or slow cold water supply, which will not fill the dispenser enough to create a syphon effect to extract the mixture from the dispenser cup, you would need to disconnect the hoses and clean the debris screens located in the end of the fill hose and the water valve. If the dispenser is empty at the end of the cycle, and fills up over time then you'd need to replace the fill valve, the cold water valve would have a seepage problem and would be allowing water to drip into the dispenser.
