Don B November 25, 2014 Both bake and broil heating elements in a Hardwick built-in oven don't heat. I checked current to both sides of elements in back and they have 120V at the connectors when the oven is on. The connections are 12" apart and oven is 21"wide. I can't find the oven model #, but both elements look like Whirlpool 74010761 (AP4099800). Is that correct?
1 Answer Hello Don. You must test with the wires unhooked from the element. Otherwise you are reading through the element. You need 240 volts across the element wires, not 120. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
