Ryan, thanks for the question. Based on the description of your issue, I would check the clutch first, and if it's ok, then move to the gearcase.

Hello Brian, thank you for contacting AppliancePartsPros.com The gearcase W11454372 is the most likely cause of your roaring noise while in spin, as for the clicking and agitator problem, that is going to be the shift actuator W10913953 which will need to be replaced as well.

Hello Sam, thank you for contacting AppliancePartsPros.com On this model the issue's most likely culprits are the control board W11498797 or the gearcase W11454372. Us the tech sheet supplied with the washer to enter diagnostic mode and run the spin test. If the noise does not occur in diagnostic mode replace the control board, if it does make the noise in diagnostic mode then it is the gearcase or another mechanical component below the unit.

Hi, once the new gearcase is fitted into the outer tub, should the rubber part of the seal be flush with the bottom of the tub when looking inside? I've screwed the gearcase all the way on, but the rubber seal is still recessed by about 1/4 inch in the hole of the outer tub where it sits. The flat top of the metal sleeve covering the rubber seal is just about even with the bottom of the tub however. It means there is a small spot where water might pool just at the seal, which makes me think I've installed it wrong, but I also don't see how I could possibly get the shaft/seal any further into the tub. Thanks!

Dan, Try to take the gearcase back off and put a little lubrication around the seal to help it slide into place. You can then push down on the inner tub to try to get it slide into place.

Hello. I have a customer who says when her washer goes into a high speed spin it shakes terribly and tries to walk across the floor. The first thing I checked was the suspension rods. They appeared to be okay. Still plenty stiff. Not bouncy at all. Also, the washer is level and the tub is centered. I filled the washer with water and raised the top so I could observe the wash plate while agitating. Thinking maybe the washer wasn't actually agitating and just rotating in one direction. The wash plate agitates back and forth just fine. Although the basket was rotating back and forth along with the wash plate. If I applied pressure to the basket it would pretty much stop rotating back and forth. I thought the basket only moved during the high speed spin. I paused the cycle and drained the water from the washer. I raised the lid and I was able to rotate the wash plate back and forth by hand. I was thinking I shouldn't be able to rotate it back and forth. Just trying to figure out what is causing the washer to shake so much during the spin cycle. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

1 Answer

Brian, The 2 most common causes for the unit to get off balance and shake will be either an overloading issue or the suspension rods that would need to be replaced.
