Ryan December 07, 2025 for Model Number WTW4950HW1 Washing machine was loud on the spin cycle and then it stopped spinning altogether. Is the transmission broken?
1 Answer Ryan, thanks for the question. Based on the description of your issue, I would check the clutch first, and if it's ok, then move to the gearcase. Read More...
Brian September 09, 2025 for Model Number MVWC465HW3 My washer is making a very loud roaring noise when spinning and I know it is a bearing but just recently it stopped agitating properly too and now only clicks followed by a short him when the agitator moves. Can this be caused by a bad bearing too?
1 Answer Hello Brian, thank you for contacting AppliancePartsPros.com The gearcase W11454372 is the most likely cause of your roaring noise while in spin, as for the clicking and agitator problem, that is going to be the shift actuator W10913953 which will need to be replaced as well. Read More...

Sam July 08, 2025 for Model Number MVWC465HW2 Maytag top load washing machine is extremely loud during the spin cycle, runs okay but it’s so loud. Only makes noise during spin cycle.
1 Answer Hello Sam, thank you for contacting AppliancePartsPros.com On this model the issue's most likely culprits are the control board W11498797 or the gearcase W11454372. Andrew June 22, 2025 for Model Number WTW4955HW1 Whirlpool washer has been very loud during the spin cycle (like a jet engine taking off). Do I need to change the transmission or can I continue to run it like this? Other than the really loud noise during spin it works fine. Is this the part that has failed causing it to make a loud noise. It’s not vibrating abnormally it’s just really loud.
1 Answer Andrew, thank you for the question. The bearings would be the issue, and the part to replace for your model would be the gearcase assembly. Part# W11454372 - W11454372 Read More...
Dan March 11, 2025 for Model Number MVWX550XW2 Hi, once the new gearcase is fitted into the outer tub, should the rubber part of the seal be flush with the bottom of the tub when looking inside? I've screwed the gearcase all the way on, but the rubber seal is still recessed by about 1/4 inch in the hole of the outer tub where it sits. The flat top of the metal sleeve covering the rubber seal is just about even with the bottom of the tub however. It means there is a small spot where water might pool just at the seal, which makes me think I've installed it wrong, but I also don't see how I could possibly get the shaft/seal any further into the tub. Thanks!
1 Answer Dan, Try to take the gearcase back off and put a little lubrication around the seal to help it slide into place. You can then push down on the inner tub to try to get it slide into place. Read More...
Brian December 30, 2023 for Model Number WTW4950HW1 Hello. I have a customer who says when her washer goes into a high speed spin it shakes terribly and tries to walk across the floor. The first thing I checked was the suspension rods. They appeared to be okay. Still plenty stiff. Not bouncy at all. Also, the washer is level and the tub is centered. I filled the washer with water and raised the top so I could observe the wash plate while agitating. Thinking maybe the washer wasn't actually agitating and just rotating in one direction. The wash plate agitates back and forth just fine. Although the basket was rotating back and forth along with the wash plate. If I applied pressure to the basket it would pretty much stop rotating back and forth. I thought the basket only moved during the high speed spin. I paused the cycle and drained the water from the washer. I raised the lid and I was able to rotate the wash plate back and forth by hand. I was thinking I shouldn't be able to rotate it back and forth. Just trying to figure out what is causing the washer to shake so much during the spin cycle. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
1 Answer Brian, The 2 most common causes for the unit to get off balance and shake will be either an overloading issue or the suspension rods that would need to be replaced. Read More...
