Matt June 20, 2011 for Model Number 596.71103101 I'm troubleshooting the defrost system on my Kenmore 596.71103101. I measured 312 ohms across the terminals of the defrost heater at room temperature. I'm wondering if this is the manufacturer's value.
1 Answer Hello Matt. If the heater is showing resistance, it is good. You will need to test the thermostat WP10442411 for continuity. It should read closed when cold. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. 1 Answer Hello Edward. You will need to use needle nose pliers to remove the clips. Unhook the front side of the clip from the evaporator first. Be careful not to punch a hole in the evaporator. Hope this helps. Read More...
