Unhinged June 24, 2015 for Model Number CRE9600BCE In the repair tips for replacing the hinges there is a discussion regarding which hinges are for which model. In the answer it said that there was a change in hinges at a certain point determined by the serial number (first two digits). It then gave part numbers for two different hinges. Your parts for sale list only shows one model number. Are we to assume that this hinge replaces either of the hinges (42 and lower or 42 and higher)????? My unit may need new hinges as the door will not stay tightly closed unless I move the lock lever to the point at which it holds the door but does not shut off the power to the elements. I find nothing blocking the door that would keep it open, but the door does feel odd when opening and closing it. Does this sound like it may be a hinge problem????? Okay, I know, I asked two questions. I'm just a curious guy who has come unhinged! ;-)
1 Answer Hello Unhinged. Yes, you can use the hinge 12400043 on either series. Also, the information you provided does sound like the hinges are bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. Read More...
Sparkyguy October 15, 2013 for Model Number Magic Chef Gas Range Model #3468XVW Re: Oven Door Hinge & Spring replacement for BOTH sides Site Search comes up with two different parts. They are: AP4101299 AP4012074 (Description notes "with screw") Your "Compatibility Tool" indicates BOTH will fit my make and model. Without disassembling range first, how can I determine which one is a better fit for my range? From what I understand, disassembly requires removing entire side panel from both sides. Since this is a rather large task, I would like to do this only ONCE during installation..
1 Answer Hello Sparkyguy, We will need to refer to the serial number from the units' I.D. tag to determine which the unit takes. There was a series change at 42 that changed the part number. If the units' serial number is 41 or under it will take part number 12400043. If the serial number begins with 42 or higher you will need to order part number WP74011140. Read More...
