For Whirlpool Hinge - Door (Refrigerator) (Part Number: OEM18018960)

Auntie Ann for Model Number Maytag Neptune MAH3000AWW washing machine

Seems like the screws on the upper door hinge are stripped. Should I just find a few sheet metal screws (at a place like Tacoma Screw) that are just a tad larger and replace the ones that appear stripped or do I need to replace the hinge itself? Does the hinge doo come with the screws necessary to mount it? If not, what screws are needed ... I can't seem to figure out which screws are which and have seen several different parts labeled "hinge screw."

Auntie Ann, You would want to see if you can locate a self tapping screw that would be slightly larger than the ones that are there. The hinge is just held on by the screws and the screws screw into a bracket on the unit.

Richard, Slamming the door is probably part of the problem. There are a few things to check. The door and hinges, make sure they aren't bent or sagging down on the side opposite the hinges. Sometimes the hinges and door will sag from leaning on the door when loading or unloading the washer. You'll need to remove the front panel, dispenser assembly and raise the top of the washer. You'll need to look at the top support brace that the latch assembly is attached to see if it is bowed in towards the back of the machine, you can pull out on the brace and try to realign it, or install a couple of washers between the latch assembly and the brace to move it out and align it with the latch loop. It only takes a 16 th or so, if you go too far the door wont seal properly and you'll have a leak.

Hello Mike. The up or down depends on the side of the door and the way it is opening. Just make sure the tabs on the hinges WP22002798 go into the slots on the front panel. They will only install and open in the correct spot. Hope this helps.
