This oven bake igniter lights the bake burner so your oven can reach and maintain temperature. A weak or failed igniter causes no heat in bake or very long preheat times. What it does:

  • Heats and ignites the gas at the bake burner
  • Draws the correct current to open the oven safety valve
  • Helps restore normal preheat and consistent baking performance
  • Common symptoms: no bake heat, igniter glows but burner won't light, long or incomplete preheat
What's included:
  • One bake igniter assembly
Install notes:
  • Disconnect power and shut off gas supply before servicing
  • Handle the igniter by the ceramic base; avoid touching the carbide element
  • Transfer any mounting hardware from the original if needed and route wires away from heat
  • Restore power/gas and test for proper ignition

Joe, You would need to check the temp sensor for 1090 ohms at room temp. Also, the bake circuit includes an ignitor and gas valve. The ignitor needs 120 VAC supply from the control or thermostat and an amp measurement of 3.2 to 3.6 amps at the gas valve.

Jeff, These "Gemini" mgas ranges work a bit weird, The upper oven(small) when broil is selected, the bake burner ignites and burns for approximately 12 minutes, like a pre heat cycle. then when the bake burner cycles off, if the oven is in a broil selection, the broil burner will cycle on and burn. You may want to select the broil selection and wait a few minutes(10 or 15) and then check to see if the broil burner ignites and attains a flame. The lower oven has a bake burner only, and is diagnosed as a "standard" gas oven, when you select a bake temp, 120 VAC is applied to the burner igniter, the igniter glows and when the proper amperage and voltage is produced, the oven safety valve opens and releases the gas and ignites. Remove the oven base panel, so you can observe the igniter, select a Bake cycle and temp., and observe the igniter to start glowing. The system should draw 3.2 to 3.6 amps, when it glows and produce 3.2 to 3.6 VAC at the wires on the safety valve from the igniter. here's some meter usage information, if you need it [http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html] And we're sending more technical information to help you out. Good Luck and Thanks
