Gonzo August 09, 2017 for Model Number AMV6177AAB I purchased a replacement lightbulb, stuck it in and it never turned off no matter what I did. I pulled the plug hoping to reset something; I flipped the bulb; I pulled the bulb, unplugged the unit and reinserted the bulb before plugging in the power. Nothing worked. It eventually just burnt out after a while. These things aren't cheap. What did I do wrong? Or How do I keep from burning out the next one?
1 Answer Gonzo, other than making sure you didn't touch the bulb, bare handed, it doesn't sound like you did anything wrong(halogen bulbs should not be touched, use gloves or at least a paper towel, when replacing halogen bulbs). You most likely have a "stuck' cooktop lamp relay on the control board [AP4056313 / 53001396. Unfortunately, the control board is no longer available from the manufacturer. We can no longer get it from any of our suppliers. There is no tsubstitute for the part available to us, and we don't know of any other source for the part. You may want to try contacting local parts dealers, one of them might still have it in stock. Enter your part number in a search engine, a smaller company might have it. Try eBay,Amazon or similar sites. Search by using the manufacturer part number. Try a used appliance store, sometimes they have the same model or usable part for your machine. Jeff R. March 10, 2016 for Model Number MMV5207AAS Does this light bulb have a high and low light level?
1 Answer Jeff, No, The WP53001905 Cooktop light is a single element halogen bulb. The light intensity/illumination is controlled through relays on the control board. There is a "low" light relay and a "high" light relay. Read More...
