The Latch is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool washing machines. This component ensures the washer's door or lid is securely closed during operation, preventing water spillage and ensuring the safety of the user by halting operation when opened.

Causes for a malfunctioning Latch can include mechanical wear from frequent use, damage from forceful closing or opening, or electrical issues affecting its signaling capability to the washer's control system.

Symptoms of a bad Latch include:

  • The washing machine's door or lid not closing securely
  • The appliance not starting or pausing mid-cycle due to latch issues
  • Error codes or indicators signaling latch or door problems
  • The need for excessive force to open or close the door or lid

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Chi Chi, You would need needle-nose pliers and screwdriver to replace this door latch. You will need to remove the spring around the door boot and remove the main top. Once this is done, unscrew the door latch and remove the old latch and install the new one.

Ophelia, This issue sounds like it would be caused by a faulty lock assembly. On the tech sheet it will tell you how to test the lock to verify if the board or the lock assembly is faulty.

Craig for Model Number MHW6630HW2

Looking to replace door latch to Maytag front-load washer MHW6630HW2 -- and very confused. Bad part has molded into the plastic (back): EMZ BG-222556. Printed on the loop (top): EG-380873; H10804741/E; T65 888.1.D4; 210323M02623. MAYTAG Customer Service says: Part # W1156030, superseding W10804741, superseding W11469919. Searching the web I found a few places either saying or suggesting use of Part# W11316250. Some web sites have photos that look similar to the bad part; others don't look the same; some have no photos. Your site has Latch W11565030 / AP7175877 but no photos. Sears has HA15G JANUS- W11565030 and HA15G JANUS- W10804741 (at wildly different prices). Is Janus a replacement manufacturer for EMZ? I am not sure what this is. Any help is appreciated.
