Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Microcomputer (Part Number: OEM9406206)

Ed, There is a thermostat on the back of the unit that you will want to check to see if there is continuity on it. The part number for the thermostat would be WP9759242. If this checks ok then the issue will most likely be caused by a faulty control board.

Hello Bill. The error code you are having refers to a bad keypad connection. Check your connection between the keypad and board. If your error code comes back within 60 seconds after you've reset your unit you will need to replace the keypad. Hope this helps!

After using my upper oven it went into self-clean by itself, after extended period it did not shut down. I was concerned and cut the power after about 15 minutes. I restored power and oven continued to clean, cut power again until following day. When the power was turned on, the oven did not function no lights on the control panel. I checked the thermal overload and it showed no continuity. I temporary bypassed it but there was still no function on the panel but the upper oven began heating. Other than the thermal fuse, could it also need the micro-computer?

Hello Mike, I would start at the temperature sensor WPW10131825. This part tells the micro-computer what temperature it is inside the bake compartment. At room temperature it should read about 1100O. Be sure to tap on it while testing since it can have an intermittent problem. If this doesn't test bad, the micro-computer 4453661 is the answer to the issue. Unfortunately the micro-computer shows unavailable with no satisfactory substitution. The only alternative in this case is to see if you can locate one of the businesses that re-build control boards. This sounds like a real gamble, but in the exposure I've had with these companies, they seem to do really good work.

Hello Bill. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the microcomputer 4456033 is bad and will need to be replaced. If a button is stuck, then you have a bad membrane on the unit. The membrane 4456322 has been permanently discontinued by the manufacturer and we don't know of any source or replacement for the part.

Hello Martin. The first thing I would suggest is to sselect the cancel function and immediately power the unit off at the circuit breaker before it can start flashing the code. At this point, disconnect the control (clock) from the touchpad. Power the unit back up and wait at least 60 seconds. If the code doesn't reappear, replace the touchpad. If the code does reappear, replace the control. I sure hope this helped you out! F2-E1 - Touch Pad (Keypad) Cable Unplugged

Our oven is constantly power failing. It will display PF when the power comes back on. Yesterday it shut down and took about a minute for power to even come back to the oven for it to display PF and it seemed like the display lights were on a dimmer and the power slowly was restored; I had been baking all day. But it even PF's during the middle of the night when it's not even on, we will wake up hearing it beep. My husband replaced the thermal shut down fuse and we think it needs a new control board but we'd like to make sure before spending the money. Any idea if we are correct?
