Ronald,

This issue will most likely be a ignition switch WP74007096 that is faulty and would need to be replaced. Due to the age of the unit we will not have parts available for this unit.

Mark for Model Number AKS3640SS

I own an Amana gas stovetop that is only 7 years old. Recently I had a situation where the igniter kept sparking/clicking even after the flame had appeared and continued to spark/click when I turned it off. I unplugged the unit and the igniter stopped of course. After 10 or 15 minutes I plugged it in again and I heard a loud pop and the circuit tripped. I reset the circuit and tried it in another outlet and it tripped that circuit as well. Doesn't matter what outlet I plug it into so to me that means there is an issue with the electronics within the stovetop. That's where you guys come in. What needs to be replaced in order for the unit to work again. Just so you know, the house is 2006 construction and the unit has been working fine. No issues with wiring in the house or the service. The cord from the stovetop is attached securely and I don't see problems with it. Thanks! Mark

Hello Mark. Either the spark module is bad or there is a wire shorted to ground on the unit. Check the wiring on the unit. If good, replace the module on the unit.

Donald, Start at the outlet, make sure your outlet is a polarized, grounded 120 VAC outlet. remove the grates and burner caps, and the burner bases( two screws in each base) label the caps , burners and igniter wires so you dont get lost, and remove the glass cook top and pans. You'll have access to all the wiring and the spark module at that point, Good Luck and Thanks
