John K. April 26, 2012 for Model Number MDB7709AWS1 The start button on my dishwasher control panel does not work even though every other button seems to work. I assume this means that the control panel or part of the control panel must be replaced. How do I troubleshooot this? Also, if I take it apart, does the control panel have it's own part number so I can insure I order the proper part? THANKS!
1 Answer Hello John, You need to open the control panel and disconnect the ribbon cable from the control. Using an eraser from a pencil and only rubbing in the samr direction as the traces, clean the traces by rubbing them with the eraser. Reattach the ribbon cable and check the units' operation. If this didn't correct the issue, the problem is most likely the membrane switch in the control panel W10811157 for black, for white W10811158, and for bisque W10811159. Read More...
