This spark module supplies the high-voltage pulses that ignite the surface burners on compatible gas cooktops/ranges. Replacing a failing module restores consistent burner spark and reliable lighting when you turn the knobs.

  • Distributes ignition voltage to multiple burners; coordinates spark when a burner is turned on
  • Common failure symptoms: no spark on any or multiple burners, intermittent clicking, or burners that won't ignite despite gas flow
  • Click continuously if internal circuitry fails or senses a short in the ignition system
What's included: 1 spark module Install notes:
  • Disconnect power and shut off gas before servicing; verify no residual voltage
  • Label and transfer each spark wire and connector one at a time to maintain correct routing
  • Mount securely and avoid pinching or stretching ignition leads
  • If burners still won't spark after replacement, inspect electrode wires, switches, and grounds

Ryan, The left front burner cap will be part number WP3191737 and the burner will be WP4455849. Unfortunately, the left front burner has been discontinued by the manufacturer with no suitable replacement available so you would want to try to clean the burner.

Ryan for Model Number KGCS166GSS07

Front left ignitor doesn't work all the times. Sometimes the spark comes and sometimes it doesn't. Regardless of which knob I turn on all the other ignitors get constant spark but this one doesn't. When it does, it lights up, otherwise you have to constantly keep doing it. I replaced the orfice with igntior already thinking ignitor was the issue but the issue remains. What would cause it? Rest of the burners work perfectly fine. Would it be due to a failing spark module or a failing switch?

1 Answer

Ryan, Make sure that the burner is clean and that there is no rust on the cap or the burner. If this is not the case then the spark switch will likely be the issue.

Jarred, Most likely one of these switches is staying in a closed position even with the gas valve in an off position. You can test the brown and white wires where they plug into the spark module. If they have continuity with the switches in the off position then this part would need to be replaced. WPW10256072

Al, Based on this description it sounds like there may have been a spillover which got down into the ignition switch and caused the issue. It is also possible that it the spark module failed due to this. The part number for the switches is WP4456901 and spark module WPW10110486.
