Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Dryer Vent Test Kit (Part Number: OEM19000524)

1 Answer

Topspin, when using the tester, the user manual says when the lights go out the dryer will need to be turned on and a waiting period of 90 seconds will be needed. If it does not indicate an airflow level within 90 seconds, the batteries will need to be verified as being good. If it does not work after these steps have been taken, then it is possible that there is an issue with the test kit.

Quintin, The unit should take care of itself as far as calibrating. If you feel you are getting readings not correct make sure the batteries are fresh.

C. Brock, You will want to check the unit venting as this sounds like it would be caused by a possible blocked vent in which it will cause the clothes to get too hot. Also check the belt and the rollers for the unit.

J, Being a gas dryer, you may have a broken igniter, failed radiant sensor, or the gas valve coils have failed. On your dryer there should be a 1X1" square, plastic cover, carefully remove the cover, start the dryer on a heat cycle and look through the "peep" hole. You should be able to see the igniter glowing for a few seconds, then a click noise and the igniter glow start to fade, then the burner flame will ignite. No glow, you'll need to check the igniter, sensor and thermostats to see which has failed, if it glows and fades but no flame ignition, check or replace the gas valve coils. Of course you've already checked to make sure you have the proper gas supply to the dryer.

Hello Bill. You'll want to make sure the unit is sending power to the glow bar. If it's getting power you'll want to replace the glow bar, if not you'll want to trace the wires to see where your losing your voltage. Thanks!

Bob, Based on the test kit instructions sheet the leads will plug into the tester and the other ends of the leads will connect a meter that will be set to resistance and will give a resistance reading when testing.

Hello Nikki. Check and make sure you have 240 volts coming to the dryer. Check and make sure the unit is not set to Air Fluff. Also check the heater and thermostats and see if they are good. You can test these with a multi-meter MA-DM1. They should read closed for continuity. If they are good, replace the main board on the unit. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Edmund, On the instructions it says once the lights go out you will want to turn the dryer on then wait 90 seconds and a light should come on. If it is not doing this then double check to make sure that the batteries are good. If the batteries are bad it could cause this issue. If the batteries are good then it may be faulty.
