This 3-cycle dryer timer controls cycle selection and run time. Replace it to restore proper start, advancement, and shut-off so your dryer runs the correct length and switches cycles reliably.

  • Controls cycle timing and advancement via internal cams, contacts, and a timer motor
  • Routes power to the drive motor and heater according to the selected cycle
  • Common symptoms: timer won't advance; dryer won't start on certain settings; won't shut off at the end of a cycle; or runs too long/too short
  • Cause inconsistent drying in Auto cycles when internal contacts fail
What's included: 1 timer Install notes:
  • Disconnect power before servicing
  • Remove the timer knob/dial and open the control console to access the timer
  • Transfer wires one at a time from the old timer to the new; take a photo for reference
  • Secure the timer and ensure the shaft aligns with the knob; test operation before reassembly

Sean, if the dryer stops when the door is opened and it does not start back up when the door is closed, the timer WP3976577 would be the cause of failure.

Hello Martha. Pull the unit out and remove the back access panel off the control panel. Now you can access and replace the timer WP3976577 on the unit.
