This part is a timer that is made for washing machines. The timer is the component that controls the washing machine's electrical components and the length of time for each of the cycles. One of the common signs of a faulty timer on a washing machine is that the timer will not advance through the cycles, will skip cycles, or will stall in the middle of a cycle. The washing machine could become stuck on a cycle also. Please unplug the appliance before trying to replace this part. The process is very easy and takes less than 15 minutes to complete. A screwdriver and socket set will be needed. This timer is compatible with washing machines that are manufactured by Maytag and Whirlpool. It is sold individually. This part comes directly from the manufacturer and is made out of high-quality materials.

It is confusing since I bought 208196 based on a recomendation but when the mechanic opened it it showed 208292. Also why the change in number and what happene(for my info and I can learn from this) ANd one more The old 208292 can it be fixed as new in the US? Do you know of any place that does that? THanks to all. Stay cool a hot one is blowing(no I dont mean fart I mean heat wave)

James gang, The 208196 was the timer for machines built prior to the series #6. The manufacturer made a change starting with series #6 to the 208292 timer. Based on the model and serial number provided your machine is a series #8 so you need the later timer (208292).

B Wells for Model Number LAT9593AAW Model--Serial A6129469 HK

Dear Sirs: I have a Maytag Washer Model LAT 9593AAW, Serial Number A6129469 HK. The washer knob stops turning OR it continues to"OFF" leaving the washer full of clothes & water. Sometimes I can pull the knob & reposition it & after multiple attempts find a location it will drain & spin. I am guessing that I need a new timer. I am getting conflicting answers as to which timer I need. Either 208196 or 208292. Hopefully it is 208292, since 208196 is not available. Thanking you in advance.
