Amana Dryer ALG643RAW Timer will not advance

The Dryer Gas Valve Coil Kit is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool dryers, as well as Kenmore and Samsung dryers. It is a set of coils that control the flow of gas fuel to the burner. The gas valve regulates the precise amount of gas needed to properly combust and generate heat for drying clothes. 

Causes of a bad gas valve coil can be wear and tear from regular use, lime or mineral buildup on the coils over time, or physical damage to the coils.

Symptoms of a bad gas valve coil kit include:

• Inconsistent or incomplete drying  
• Slow or intermittent drying
• Burning smell from the gas dryer
• Improper burner ignition or non-ignition

This cycling thermostat regulates exhaust temperature by switching the heater on and off to maintain proper drying heat. Replacing a failed thermostat restores consistent temperatures, helps auto-dry timing, and protects against fabric-damaging overheating.

• Controls the heating circuit to maintain target drying temperatures
• Provides temperature feedback for accurate auto-dry operation
• Common symptoms: long dry times, very hot drum/cabinet or scorching odors, auto-dry not advancing correctly, or no heat if the thermostat fails open
• Typically mounted on the blower housing to sense exhaust air temperature

• Disconnect power; for gas dryers, also shut off the gas supply
• Access the thermostat (commonly on the blower housing); remove the necessary panel(s)
• Transfer wires one at a time to the new thermostat and mount it flat against the housing
• Reassemble, verify clear venting/airflow, and run a test cycle
