Maytag Dishwasher DWU7400AAE Will not fill with water or doesn't fill with water

The Water Inlet Valve is an OEM part for Whirlpool dishwashers. Located at the back of the dishwasher, this valve controls the flow of water into the dishwasher during wash cycles.

Causes of a bad water inlet valve can include mineral buildup accumulating inside the valve over many uses, wear and tear on the valve internals from constant opening and closing, or electronic component malfunctions.

Symptoms of a bad water inlet valve include:

• No water entering the dishwasher when starting cycles
• Water level issues where too much or too little water enters the tub
• A leak developing around the valve area or connection line

This water level switch senses the dishwasher's tub float and controls the water inlet. Replacing a worn switch restores correct filling, helping prevent overfilling or dry cycles that can reduce cleaning performance. What it does:

• Monitors the float position to open/close the fill circuit at the proper water level
• Common symptoms: dishwasher won't fill or stops filling too soon
• May also cause continuous filling/overfill if contacts are stuck closed
• Intermittent operation can leave the tub underfilled and washing performance poor

• Disconnect power and shut off the water supply before servicing
• Remove the toe/kick panel to access the switch near the float assembly under the tub
• Note wire positions; transfer connectors one at a time and secure the switch in its bracket
• The float moves freely and actuates the switch before reassembly and testing

This float controls your dishwasher's water level. As the tub fills, it rises to signal the float switch to shut off incoming water, helping prevent overfilling and leaks.
