Mike E Weatherford , TX August 25, 2018 Appliance: Model DV52J8700EP/A2 (0000) Dryer drum wouldn’t spin. Watching the videos I knew the issue was either the drum belt or the idler pulley for my dryer (Samsung, DV53J8700/EP), so I ordered both parts. The parts arrived quickly. I expected to disassemble the dryer to reach the problem area(s), but found that the vent tube could be removed. The belt was intact and the idler pulley was destroyed. I could replace the idler pulley through the bottom without removing all the components of the dryer. If I knew exactly what the problem was from the beginning (if I had done this repair before) it might have taken me 15 minutes start to finish. (As it was it took longer... :) ) All is repaired and working. Read More... 2 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers
Benjamin N Cumming , GA August 11, 2018 Appliance: Samsung Dryer DV45H7000EW/A2-0000 Samsung dryer not heating I used the included videos to help troubleshoot my issues. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I25dS6n6O8E 1.) Checked all 3 parts of heating assembly for continuity with a multimeter. (thermal fuse, thermostat, heating element) http://www.appliancepartspros.com/duct-heater-electric-parts-for-samsung-dv45h7000ew-a2-0000.html - All checked out ok 2.) Checked 2 parts of fan assembly (thermal fuse for continuity, thermistor for ~ 10k ohm) http://www.appliancepartspros.com/motor-duct-parts-for-samsung-dv45h7000ew-a2-0000.html - All checked out ok, but the thermistor was only registering 7k ohm so I replaced it anyway, but it did not fix the issue. 3.) Checked centrifugal switch on the motor. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6wnEEIAsmok https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CaaqRXQERVc - This is what was causing my issue. The actual switch was fine, but the metal contacts inside the box had carbon buildup on them which was not allowing current to flow through them when they the switch connected them. I simply opened the switch cover by removing the 2 screws and used sandpaper to clean the contacts. After doing this the heater now works fine. Read More...
