William W Alford , FL November 13, 2017 Appliance: Samsung Refrigerator RS265LBBP/XAA-0000 Samsung side by side refrigerator fresh food department not cooling and ice maker gear was broken and the unit was making a loud piping noise as it tried to dump the ice Diagnosed problem by testing for open heater element and while frozen, the defrost terminator, both tested open. (Infinity on meter). Ordered parts from Appliance Parts Pros. New heating element came with the evaporator coil and all sensors. Ice maker was head and tray w/ sensor. Removed old heater and sensors from new coil and old coil. Replaced with the new items. Removed old ice maker and replaced with new. I have been in the repair business for 30+ years and these repairs, which were done on my personal refrigerator, were accomplished within 2 hours. I would not recommend a novice try the heater replacement as it was a bit tedious. However, the ice maker replacement was an easy fix. Read More...
