Terry K Austin , TX February 06, 2017 Appliance: Model JED1143WW01 My ge microwave started making a bad vibration noise and then smelling the connector on the magnatron was visably burnt Replacing the magnatron fixed the problem. Appliance Pros shipped it right away, had it a few days later. Somewhere I read you should replace the HV Diode also but it metered fine so did not. HEADS UP: It was an easy repair but the magnatron makes the microwaves that will cook you too if you power it without it being fully installed and/or without the gasket. If you are not aware of that you might not want to play around with it and read some more. Jason M San Carlos , CA December 23, 2016 Weird humming/vibration and not heating This new magnetron came quickly at a reasonable price. I got a new diode from somewhere else for much less. Swapped out the old in the GE Profile Spacemaker II - it was super quick and easy. Discharging the capacitor beforehand wasn't dramatic probably because it had sat for a few days. Unscrewing the fan assembly and placing it aside made the repair a bit easier. I added new foam around the casing to help reduce any vibrations that may have carried over. Final result was a well working microwave for hopefully another decade. Super quick fix - took MUCH longer looking for a new microwave - none seem to exist in that size anymore. Tom K Calabasas , CA April 17, 2015 Microwave made louder than normal hum and would not heat food Replaced Magnetron and diode. My Magnetron had a short between the filament and the body. Bought a Magnetron from ebay that had an open filament. Returned that and bought one from here. Worked great. Magnetron is hard to get to. Took pictures of how things were so I could get it back together. Only 3 screws leftover! Read More...
