Jonathan R Mequon , WI March 27, 2016 Appliance: Samsung Refrigerator RF266AASH/XAA-0000 French door center flap spring ripped out flap no longer opened automatically when door closed In order it SHOULD be done: Pried off two white caps covering the screws that attach the flap to the left door, then removed screws. Lifted flap up to remove from door and disconnected cable. Used a thin blade to pry out the inner cover of the flap, then carefully pried out the insulation piece inside. Loosened the screw holding the center cap from the inside and removed cap. Worked the cable out of the hinge piece so it could be removed and cable pulled through case. Pried upper and lower caps off to remove hinge pieces. Swapped everything over to the new flap case in reverse order, re-installed flap on door, and installed spring with its pin sheath. Done! Mark G Pleasant Hill , CA September 06, 2016 Appliance: Samsung Refrigerator RF266AEWP/XAA Hole in casing right where pin f is inserted so mullion wouldn't retract properly when door was opened After a search on the internet for a mullion replacement, I was able to find that I had the exact same problem that someone else had - which was a broken case. Therefore I was able to order a replacement case instead of a new mullion which saved a good amount of money. When I was emailed that the parts were shipped, AppliancePartsPros included a link to reviews by others on what they did to replace their faulty parts. The story submitted by Jonathan R. from Mequon, WI, on March 27, 2016, explained exactly what I needed to do to replace my broken casing. Please refer to his repair summary as it perfectly describes what to do. Tom R Willow Springs , MO December 31, 2023 Appliance: Samsung Refrigerator RF268ABRS/XAA-0000 French door spring had worn out mullion case i only replaced the case not the whole mullion I followed someone else's repair steps on the parts page. They were well written. The repair must be done carefully or there is a possibility of breaking or bending the parts. Work the plastic tabs off of the metal inner case carefully. The new case will show you where the tabs are located. I used a utility knife blade, a slim flat bar as well as a straight screwdriver slipped between the parts. It seemed like working the ends and all the way down one side worked best to separate them. I forgot to put the center hinge stop and screw in before I reassembled the case so I had to take the case apart again to get that done. The insulation inside the case needs to be handled very carefully as well. Also I did not understand that the electrical connections were hiding in the frig body. I kept looking for them in the case thinking they were hidden in the foil insulation. But they were just inside the body of the frig and when I pulled them out they were fairly easy to unlock and take apart and put back together. It is easy to lose track of which is top and bottom, right and left of the parts and how the electrical wire is routed into the case. I recommend taking pictures with phone before each dis-assembly step to aid in getting it back together correctly. I had gotten used to guiding the broken door mullion closed. It is so nice to have the door working properly again! Took about an hour for me. Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 1-2 hours Tools: Screwdrivers
